Volume 1 		Comparing Shimamoto began in Jan. of 2001 when 20 Philadelphia area musicians came together at Shimamoto Sound for a week long session of experimentation and sonic debauchery. Manipulated and arranged by Mike Riley, Comparing Shimamoto represents the collective artistry and improvisations of a very eclectic, loose-knit community. Each track was conceived on the spot from the combined grooves and musical statements that each artist brought to the session.
